Dal Fry (Dhaaba Style)



Serving For: 3 person
Preparation time: 10 minutes
For this recipe first we have to make a special masala
INGREDIENTS: (for the masala)
1.     Oil 2 tsp
2.     Shahi Jeera (cumin seeds) ½ tsp
3.     Ginger and garlic crushed 1 tsp
4.     Onion 1 small crushed (don’t make paste just crush once in grinder)
5.     Tomato 1 small crushed (don’t make puree just crush once in grinder)
6.     Turmeric powder ½ tsp
7.     Coriander powder 1 tsp
8.     Red chilli powder 1 tsp
9.     Cumin powder ½ tsp
METHOD: (to make masala)
·   In a non stick vessel add oil to that add jeera,ginger and garlic fry till light brown

·   Then add onion fry  till light brown, then add tomato stir well

·   Add all the spices mix well for 3 minutes or till spices are cooked properly and keep aside

INDREDIENTS :( for dal fry)
1.     Toor dal 1 cup (soak for 1 hour )
2.     Shahi Jeera  (cumin seeds)½ tsp
3.     Garlic 1tsp crushed
4.     Red chilli powder 1 tsp
5.     Special masala 2 Tbsp (the above masala)
6.     Butter 2 Tbsp
7.     Coriander leaves for garnish
8.     Salt to taste
9.     Turmeric powder 1 tsp
METHOD:
·  First wash the dal and cook the dal in  pressure cooker by adding some water ,salt and turmeric powder, the dal should cook properly and it should be mashed nicely otherwise dal fry will not taste good (dal should be semi thick ,not too loose or too thick)

·  In a non stick pan add butter, when it starts melting add cumin seeds

·  Then add garlic and red chili powder stir well

·  Then add special masala mix well for few seconds in medium high heat

·  Last add cooked dal and coriander leaves and boil for 3 minutes

·  Garnish with fresh coriander leaves

·   Serve hot with rice,chapatti,naan
